Profile
My Ideal job is to work in a creative challenging environment with opportunities for continued learning and growth. Using programs such as Flash, the Adobe suite and interactive programs.
Skills
I built my site http://www.betweenthetrees.com/ with Flash & Dreamweaver, which is mainly a showcase for my artwork. I have a basic understanding of working with (X)HTML and am currently exploring Actionscript. Software programs I'm familiar with are Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Fireworks, Quark and Xyvision.
Experience
• E-Publishing, AXA Equitable; New York, NY. Dec/07-Present.
In this part-time position I am using Xyvision, Quark, Word, Excel, Edgar and Illustrator. Almost 100% of my job involves making text edits to existing documents.
• Freelance Flash Designer, 13 Way Productions; Jersey City, NJ. Jan/08-Feb/08.
On www.manchildband.com I added the mp3 tracks, text, photos and actionscript for each these elements.
• Web Designer, Anforra LLC; Chelsea, NY. Sept/07-Dec/07 & ongoing updates as needed, i.e., Aug/08.
This is a new company that had a website, but wanted a new site created with more creativity
combined with sales potential for their product. I used Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Photoshop on www.anforra.com.
• Composition Specialist, Cadmus Communications; Richmond, VA. Jan/06-Aug/14/2007
I used Xyvision software which is similar to Dreamweaver in that you can work in code or design mode creating a document to be viewed and used on the internet. Most of my time was spent making layout corrections and coding corrections. In 9/2006 I was promoted, working on journals for the American Chemical Society, based in Ohio. I worked connected to Ohio through a Thin Client using Citrix. This new position gave me more responsibility working with little to no supervision. Reason for leaving; I left Richmond VA in search of more creative and interesting opportunities in the NY/NJ area.
• Platemaking Technician, Richmond Times-Dispatch; Richmond, VA. June/02-Oct/05
Operating and maintaining the Platemaking process by monitoring the prepress files that are developed to film and then quickly proofing each negative and exposing plates for printing. In this job I have gained a strong attention to detail and the ability to organize the workflow for quality, and to best meet deadlines. I use the plate exposer, film developer, plate punch, computer stations and Computer-To-Plate equipment, while meeting the needs of the Press Room. Reason for leaving; I enjoyed my work with RT-D, but there was no challenge or growth potential from my position within the company.
• Mural and Portrait Artist, Virginia Holocaust Museum; Richmond, VA. Oct/02-Dec/04
This was a freelance part-time position where I painted five acrylic murals ranging in size from 7'x12' to 9'x40' in the Virginia Holocaust Museum located at 2000 E Cary. In each mural I had to research and build the final scene with elements from various historical Holocaust photos to meet the intentions of the Museums desired goal. Reason for leaving; I completed the project, and only wish they still had walls left to paint.
• Graphic Design & Production Artist, Circuit City; Richmond, VA. June/1997-Feb/01
I worked for two years as a Production Artist and then was promoted to a Graphic Designer. The majority of the work was page layout design for Circuit City's insert in Sundays RT-D. As a Production Artist I was responsible for product/copy subs for market/price changes. This also involved redesigning pages and quality control of each page. These responsibilities continued in Graphic Design along with working on the front and back cover, creating pages from concept designers layout and from no layout, and often had to create headline copy and edit product copy. Reason for leaving; I left for a unique educational opportunity.
Education
• Virginia Commonwealth University; Richmond, VA. Dec/1994 BFA in Painting & Printmaking.
• The Yamasa Institute; Okazaki, Japan. April/01-May/01 Certificate in Japanese Language study.

With these varied experiences I have gained a strong eye for detail and attention to workflow and deadlines. I am confidant that my desire and enthusiasm will create a fast learning environment for any programs, equipment or procedures new to me. My education, background and life are all connected with a love for creativity, whether it be on a canvas or on the computer screen.
